Mid-summer update from AGRIS Solar Co-operative

memberupdate

Dear Members

The record heat and sun is hopefully a little more tolerable this summer as part of a solar cooperative!

We’d like to welcome our new $0.802 kWh members and thank all those who have made referrals and ask all members to continue to do so. I’d also like to say that it is rewarding to hear from members that our bi-monthly newsletters are providing good information, so we will continue to keep them coming.

Construction Update

Its with significant pride that I announce AGRIS Solar Co-operative has achieved a construction milestone in 50 units completed and tied-in, now producing and supplying energy to the Ontario Power Association.  Our construction teams continue to work hard and now have installation logistics down to a science. Keep up the great work guys!

Show and Tell

Any members still curious as to what a ground mounted solar unit looks like need look no further. Recently AGRIS Solar Co-op team members were asked by Silfab, our supplier of the glass panels to participate in a media launch of their new plant in Ontario. AGRIS Solar Co-op member Leonard Stroeder, on whose property the media launch was held, poses below with the AGRIS Solar Co-op unit.

Supplier Focus: SILFAB ONTARIO Inc.
AGRIS Solar Co-operative welcomes Silfab Ontario to the Province and MicroFIT program.  Silfab is a a subsidiary of Silfab Italy.  The Company’s Ontario subsidiary headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario. In the summer of 2010, the company opened a sales office and secured a 100,000+ square feet facility to house a new 180 MW solar module manufacturing plant which has started production in April 2011. Fully-automated and operated by 200 skilled workers (at plant full capacity), the new plant manufactures mono and multi-crystalline high-efficiency PV modules with a power up to 300 Wp, suited for both rooftop and ground-mounted applications. Part of the production will also be devoted to PV module OEM manufacturing on behalf of solar companies seeking to enter the Ontario market.

OPA and Hydro

As members are aware, a number of units remain “on hold” due to capacity issues previously noted in this newsletter.  AGRIS Solar Co-op continues to hold regular dialogue with the Province and various agencies regarding to the status of these projects and will share information.   While a recent information deadline came and went without word, we  know the various bodies are working together to resolve the issue and expect to have further feedback in the coming weeks.

Stay cool!
